Major order for Trancometer of Västerås

Trancometer System AB is to supply the traffic management system for Danmark's largest haulage company.

3x34 Transport, Danmark's largest call-controlled haulage company, with a fleet of 350 vehicles, has bought Trancometer's Halda Cargo automatic traffic management system. The order is work about SEK 32 million (About EUR 3.5 million). The system will be delivered during 2003 and early 2004.

Halda Cargo is a further development of Trancometer's traffic management system, with completely new functionality for trip optimisation, trip allocation, geographical price calculation from a map database and the use of Internet solutions.

3x34 transport has four dispatching centres and covers all of Denmark. GPRS, the upgraded GSM network, will be used to communicate and send data between centres and vehicles all over Denmark.

The vehicles will be fitted with vehicle terminals developed by Trancometer.

Halda PC, a full-function Windows PC with a colour touch screen, equipped with GPS for positioning and navigation.

We can now operate over a wider field and, with Halda Cargo, we can attract a large and completely new group of customers outside our traditional customer base. "Halda Cargo saves time and money and is environment-friendly because vehicles spend less time idling," says Rolf Lyfors, Trancometer's CEO.

"We chose Halda Cargo because we want to give our customers and drivers an enhanced service by being able to supply them with information on an ongoing basis. We also expect to increase efficiency in the dispatching centre and in administration by at least 15 % and to inprove the net return of the drivers by at least 5 %," says Bert Thomsen, projet manager for 3x34 Transport.

Trancometer System AB develops, manufactures and markets complete traffic management concepts for the taxi and haulage sectors. The product concept includes hardware and software both in the vehicles and at the centre. Trancometer's product range includes products with the Trancometer(R) and Halda(R) brands. Trancometer has installations in more than 8000 taxis in Scandinavia. In the rest of western Europe there are about 30 000 more taxis fitted med Halda taximeters. The head office is in the Technology Park in Västerås, Sweden, and there are sales companies in Finland, Norway, Denmark och the United Kingdom. Group sales amount to about SEK 50 million (about EUR 5.5 million) and there are 38 employees.
